My ride to Daytona Bike Week - 2009

In February 2009, three of us departed on our motorcycles from Columbus, Ohio. Destination was Daytona Beach, Florida for Bike Week. On the Sunday afternoon that we left it was 22 degrees F (-5 C). We stayed in London, Kentucky that night and when we rolled out at 8:00am Monday morning, it was 17 degrees F (-8 C). We all had electric long-johns, but that is cold. We're all wearing rain gear - not for rain - but to keep the wind out. The inside of my helmet visor froze up but only on the right side. Drew, on a V-strom blew a fuse 10 minutes into our 2-hour stint. By the time we stopped, he was completely frozen. He said he didn't want to pull over as we were 'on a schedule' and he didn't have a spare fuse. Of course I had every size and shape of fuse just in case this happened to me, but he didn't know that. To make matters worse, when we did stop, he had to go back out in the cold and take his seat off to replace the blown fuse - while we sat in McDonalds and snorted hot chocolate. The video is actually my first ever edit. I used iMovie on my MacBook Pro. We ran GoPro cameras on all three bikes. The return trip was glorious as we detoured thru the Blue Ridge Parkway and the "Tail of the Dragon" - US 129. I am riding a black Harley-Davidson Road King Classic, Jeff (helmet-cam) is riding a HD Heritage Soft tail and Drew is on his zoomy V-Strom. I have a ton of photos but I'll save them for a future blog post. Enjoy!
